The Lake District is the largest national parks in England and some consider it one of the most beautiful parks in the world. Indeed it offers visitors a multitude of breathtaking landscapes to take in and the chance to relax, have fun and forget about all their problems. This region is actually home to Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, but if you are still not sure whether or not to add it on your next holiday destinations list, here are a few good reasons to consider:

Enjoy its beautiful lakes

Even though technically there is only one official lake given the fact that the rest of them are considered only meres, the fact is that this region has over 5500 hectares of water, so you will have plenty of opportunities to get your feet wet and even do some swimming. If you want to do something more adventurous, the area also offers sailing, windsurfing and canoeing opportunities, so you will have plenty of options to choose from. If you don’t want to go into the water, there are many Lake District hotels with hot tubs, so you can enjoy your time there.

Enjoy nature

Given the fact that this is such a large area, if water isn’t your thing, you can always go for a walk and explore the surroundings, because there is plenty to see. You can even go hiking if you feel up to it, as the highest mountain in the Lake District has 978 meters.  In any case, there are plenty of walks that you can take around the lakes and plenty of breathtaking landscapes to admire. It will be a great opportunity to stretch your legs, breathe in some fresh air and see new things.

Enjoy traditional English country pubs

The local pubs are certainly a must visit during your trip to Lake District. The smell of fresh ale, the vibe of the place and the mixture of the crowd will be enough to put you in a great mood and make you fall in love with the place even more. This is the great thing about this area, it can be visited by people of all ages, because anyone can find something nice to do here or a nice place to go to during the evenings.

Play boardgames

Even though this is one of the most beautiful places in England and it should be explored as much as possible, the fact is that the English weather may very well force you to spend one day inside your hotel and in these moments, you will find the idea of playing boardgames with your friends while listening to the sound of rain very relaxing. It will be a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your friends and family and have some good old-fashioned fun. Whether you like the traditional scrabble or monopoly or you prefer one of those more modern boardgames, the fact is it will be fun and you will have something to laugh about later on.
