Its popularity reached its peak in the past years, since more and more visitors from all around the world, but especially from the US and Canada, started to discover its beauties. Annually, thousands of people come on its shores to visit Puerto Plata attractions and indulge themselves with an all-inclusive luxurious holiday, a facility that the resort is famous for. There are plenty of things you can do in the area, so in order to build the perfect itinerary, inform yourself in advance and make a list of the things you do not want to miss. Here are some suggestions you may find useful:

Book a tour on the land or on the water

As a tourist, you will be able to choose from a wide range of water and land tours which include visiting a number of local attractions. If you are passionate about wildlife, then you can start by an off-road safari truck promenade and continue through the coffee plantations, then go to the Outback Safari through the surrounding sugarcane fields. Make sure you reach the Santiago and Jarabacoa Falls and remember to include in your journey a visit to a local cigar factory. This way, you will be able to get an overview about the natural and social life of Puerto Plata, not to mention the amazing sight of all the natural beauties it has to offer. As far as the water tours are concerned, you can choose to cruise the Atlantic Ocean or the bay of Sosua – these cruises are generally organized in the afternoon or evenings.

Enjoy the unique beaches

What makes this place actually special is definitely its beaches, which have also given its name: Puerto Plata means “Silver Harbour”. Its sun kissed sands and turquoise waters are something you cannot find anywhere else in the world, which is why spending some time sunbathing in this peaceful décor is a must if you reach the area. Sousa and Playa Dorada have gained international recognition not only for their breathtaking landscapes, but also because they provide a large selection of fun activities, such as paragliding, windsurfing, snorkeling and scuba-diving. These are perfect for the most adventurous tourists, passionate about water sports and natural beauties.
